A maze in your head

You’re stuck alone in a maze. At some point, you might find yourself on a straight path that has only one way. You can’t turn, left right or back. Here, you have no choice. The only thing you can do is keep moving forward. What do you feel? fear, or sense of resignation. The further you go, the more you realize that this way so rough and dark, you only can hope that it will lead you to a better place.

You successfully get out of that path, but unfortunately, you head into an intersection. The left path looks clear and easy, while the right path looks dark and full of obstacles. You have to stop and think about which one is the right path, you go wild imagine every possibility that can happen.

is the easy way going to lead you to an impasse, and will the rough path lead you to the exit?

This is a moment where you are faced with choices, you stop for a while, or even stuck to choose the right path.

Whatever path you choose, it leads you to an open field in the middle of the maze. Wherever you look, you see paths disappearing into the unknown. On your left, right, and in front, there are dozens of paths. You feel fatigued and confused about where to start. If you try to think of every possibility, you will get trapped and die here. Nothing yet, maybe you will fall silent in fear and hopelessness. This time, you need to simplify your thinking. Look at the clearest path and one the most suitable with your strength right now. Ignore the others and focus to moving forward. By focusing your energy on one option, you will find it easier to find a way out.

But that is just a maze, a condition where you only can only see the look of the path, you don’t know what’s inside. From the start, a path might look safe, but the inside might not be. In the real life, we can know all the path not only how it look on start, we can know the difficulty, the barriers to entry, or even the ending of the path. Sometime it helps, but often, it gives us many more variables to consider. The more choices there are, the more variable we have to think about, which can make us more confused and stuck not doing anything.

We live in an era where we can access all the information on internet. We live in social media era, where information comes and goes in our head, making us feel confused which are real or hoax, making us stuck, and making us feel small. Studies by scholars such as Vannucci and Teng, have found that frequent social media use is linked to an increased likelihood of the emergence of anxiety psychology.

All we can do in this era is know ourselves and filter until we find the best way, we own best way. And when you find that, use your horse blinders, be disciplined, and be number one on your path. So next when you meet a highway, a turn, or many paths, you still be on your path, and you will know for yourself which one is the right one.
