A Simple Guide to Learn Web3: It’s Easier Than You Think

Web3 is often looked at as a revolution of the future, but for many people, it still feels like a very segmented field that is very difficult to understand. Terms like blockchain, NFT, and cryptocurrency, etc. make us think, “This just seems too hard.”. But besides that, it can change how we interact with the internet and even our social lives.

I don’t know where to start

Learning about Web3 is a great first step. Despite the confusing terms, Web3 is built on a strong foundation of community, it’s an essential part of the ecosystem. So there are many communities out there, joining one will help you meet with other Web3 people, and you can ask them anything even if you’re still zero.

Recently, I attended a Sui and Trust Wallet community meetup and had a quick chat with Putra Arfiansyah, a Community Builder and part of the Trust Squad. I asked him, “How hard is it for a beginner to learn about Web3?

It’s easy but also difficult, depending on your motivation,” he said, and continue: “To start, I’d suggest joining a community and attending events like AMAs (Ask Me Anything) or community meetups“.

Putra added that you can also learn by yourself, like he did when he started. He began by running a game top-up business and investing in stocks, then dived into Web3 through online resources. But he still recommends to join a community.

Then I asked him, “How much do you recommend people to learn about Web3?

Without hesitation, Putra replied, “I really recommend it because the scope of Web3 is vast. Web3 offers various opportunities to earn money. You can become a creator, a NFT artist, explore the ecosystem by trying out DeFi (Decentralized Finance) for example, or even get a job in the Web3”.

Hearing that, I gave him a follow up question, “Then how to get a job in Web3?

Putra explained that platforms like X (Twitter) are a primary hub for Web3 professionals and companies. He suggested following accounts like “Work to Earn,” or “Loker Kripto” page on LinkedIn which often share Web3 jobs. Yes, LinkedIn is also very effective,

I often get job offers for roles like Community Manager from LinkedIn just by having an engaging profile and being active,” he said. Putra also pointed out that many Web3 jobs are remote, which makes it possible to work for international companies from anywhere.

As Putra mentioned, the community is a key part of Web3. How difficult is Web3 for beginners? Not difficult at all, because you have already read this.
