Previously, on my article, I said “I don’t want to be generalist person”. Now I realize that being a generalist is a great thing. Generalist means you have a wide spectrum of knowledge, but you’re not an expert. Then why being a generalist is a great thing? isn’t it specialist that will be needed?
Generalist is complex problem solving, you don’t have to be expert in one thing. Instead, just make sure u know the thinking structure of everything u learn. This way, you can identify situations or problems more deeply, easily finding the root cause, and create the best solution for them.
Specialist will help you with descriptive approach, but generalist will help u with prescriptive approach
Generalist people use many perspectives to handle a problem, they know which ones are good and not. Scientific data say that option A is the best solution for problem X. But don’t forget, you have to deal with the culture. Moreover if there is a traditional way to solve the problem, which one do you choose?

Being a generalist is a great thing. Start by learning everything in your field. If you work in a creative agency, go learn about everything related to it. everything single thing. Broaden your mind so you can solve any complex problem you have.
